The Chair - Dennis Camp

I’m the chair of the group. I’m coming up to 72; I’m a retired farmer of dairy cows. I’m a Guernsey man, married with 2 children. I was taken ill in 1985, when I had trouble with my leg and my lungs, although I was very poorly I’m now 90%.

I drive a minibus once a week for the Salvation Army, so I’m a busy chap, putting my time into helping others. At the group once a month I get people to come and talk at the group, the speakers have included doctors, exercise instructors, manager of Boots Chemist, Insurance Company and a dietician. I enjoy going to the group, as I’m able to give back help to others in similar situations. The group is relaxed and sociable. Even those who don’t have lung problems who’ve been affected within their family come along, which is great.

The Treasurer - Gene Morgan

I’m 75 years old (which I can’t quite believe! I still feel young), I’m now retired but in my previous life I was a publican brought up in the trade.  I was a licencee for 22 years.  I was brought up in pubs in Guernsey.  I have three children (Tracey, Jane and Gary).  I’m the treasurer of the group, now I’ve come to terms with what I have to do; I’m enjoying the job.  My daughter and my friend have helped me.  I like going to the group to meet others with health troubles.  We’ve always got something to talk about!  The speakers are always really interesting and I’ve learnt a lot.

The Secretary - Rosemary Le Page

I’m the secretary of the group; I’m married with 3 daughters and four grandchildren.  I’ve been in the group for 2 years and found it beneficial to chat with others with lung problems.  I took on the role of secretary in November 2006.  Before I took the post Julie Teed did the job but sadly she passed away. Having known Julie Teed for a short while and knowing how good she was at the job, it daunted me a bit, knowing I can’t fill her shoes but with my husbands support I will do my best to do the job well.

If you’re thinking of joining the group I’m more than happy for you to contact me and I will help as much as I can.
